The State Fair Of Louisiana has closed the doors on what organizers say has been another successful year.
Some firsts were made and old traditions continued.
Many fair goers say the State Fair Of Louisiana deserves more than one visit. Some just can’t stay away.
Last year the fair attracted more than 400,000 people, a number they are expected to exceed this year.
State Fair President Chris Giordano says three weeks of beautiful weather and the introduction of the fun pass, which includes gate admission and unlimited rides every day of the fair, could be what pushed them over the top this year. But he’s still looking to improve and make changes for next year.
One of the new food vendors this year was Izzy’s Bar-B-Que, introducing this modern facitly that’s kept hungry fair goers coming back for more.
Izzy’s won the first place award for best in show among the vendors, something they’ve gotten pretty accustomed to. They racked up two other awards this year at fairs in Oklahoma and Arkansas.
The State Fair Of Louisiana was founded by a group of Shreveport citizens in 1906. The general manager says he should know by tomorrow whether they surpassed last years attendance record.
